Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Dalan Digital Project in Timor-Leste by contributing to the development of digital legislative and regulatory frameworks. The role will focus on legal and policy aspects of digital transformation, including research, analysis, and drafting of documents related to cybersecurity, data protection, and digital services. The intern will gain practical experience in policy development, stakeholder engagement, and capacity building, supporting the government in building transparent, efficient, and accessible public services and promoting digital inclusion. This position offers exposure to international development work within the UN system.
Responsibilities
Support legal research on existing laws and policies related to digital transformation areas such as cybersecurity and data protection. Assist in preparing legal research documents, policy briefs, and analytical reports. Undertake daily administrative and coordination tasks, including organizing stakeholder consultations and meetings, and maintaining project records. Contribute to the development and updating of legislative work plans and tracking tools. Coordinate workshops and meetings with key stakeholders, ensuring proper logistics and documentation. Develop knowledge products like legal summaries and briefing notes. Engage with team members and external stakeholders to facilitate communication and collaboration on digital legislative initiatives. Assist in drafting concept notes and proposals for new projects. Monitor and track legislative development activities and support awareness-raising efforts.
