Job Purpose
The Environmental Analyst will contribute to the sustainable environmental management of the Panama Canal Watershed. This role supports the implementation of integrated watershed management models and promotes environmental compliance and best practices among economic activities within the watershed. The analyst will design and implement monitoring, surveillance, and control programs to ensure the quality and quantity of water resources, protect ecosystems, and improve the quality of life for local communities. This position is crucial for strengthening environmental governance and fostering sustainable territorial development in alignment with national and international environmental frameworks.
Responsibilities
The Environmental Analyst will lead teams of technicians and consultants, ensuring the timely and quality delivery of reports and documents related to environmental monitoring and compliance. Key responsibilities include designing, establishing, and maintaining a system for registering economic activities and their environmental impact. The role involves developing and implementing environmental monitoring, surveillance, and control programs for specific zones or productive sectors relevant to the Panama Canal Authority. This includes fostering adherence to environmental standards, procedures, and regulations, and promoting the adoption of best environmental practices. The analyst will also contribute to capacity building and cultural change initiatives for sustainable territorial management within the watershed.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in environmental analysis, monitoring, or management is required. Experience in designing and implementing environmental surveillance and control programs, particularly in watershed management or related fields, is highly desirable. Experience leading technical teams is also beneficial.
