Partnership And Outreach Associate On Waste And Marine Debris Management
Organizational Context
UNDP Indonesia, through the Marine Plastic Litter Reduction Acceleration Secretariat Project, supports the Government of Indonesia in strengthening policy development, institutional coordination, and implementation of national priorities on marine debris reduction and integrated waste management. The project provides technical and coordination support to the National Coordination Team on Marine Debris (TKN PSL), facilitates policy reforms, and promotes evidence-based decision-making. It also fosters multi-stakeholder engagement across government, private sector, civil society, and academia to advance sustainable waste management solutions.
Job Purpose
The Partnership and Outreach Associate will support stakeholder engagement, strategic outreach, and multi-sector coordination to strengthen collaboration in marine debris reduction and integrated waste management efforts in Indonesia. This role is crucial for advancing national priorities by facilitating policy dialogues, developing partnerships, and mobilizing resources. The Associate will work closely with government counterparts, development partners, private sector entities, and civil society organizations to ensure alignment of initiatives with national action plans and policies. By supporting public awareness campaigns and disseminating policy information, the position contributes to accelerating Indonesia's transition towards a circular economy and achieving national targets for plastic leakage reduction and improved waste management.
Responsibilities
The Partnership and Outreach Associate will provide effective support for stakeholder engagement and multi-sector coordination, including mapping stakeholders and planning engagement aligned with national waste management priorities. Responsibilities include supporting national and cross-sector coordination among ministries, NGOs, private sector, and development partners, and facilitating multi-stakeholder policy dialogues. The role involves conducting comprehensive stakeholder mapping, developing engagement maps, and identifying potential funding sources at national and international levels. Additionally, the Associate will support the design and implementation of public awareness campaigns, develop outreach materials, and disseminate policy information. This includes maintaining updated databases of strategic partners, preparing partnership briefs, and contributing to knowledge management by systematizing and distributing project knowledge products.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required with secondary education, or 3 years with a bachelor's degree. Experience should be in stakeholder engagement, outreach, communication, public campaigns, or partnership coordination. Desired experience includes working with environmental issues like marine debris and waste management, coordinating with government institutions and NGOs, organizing multi-stakeholder dialogues, stakeholder mapping, and knowledge of Indonesia's waste management policies.
