Job Purpose
The Local Security Assistant - IT Support role is crucial for modernizing web applications within the UN Department of Safety and Security in Colombia. This position will support the migration of ASP.NET Web Forms applications to newer ASP.NET technologies, contributing to the development of modern interfaces, software support, and the adoption of new ICT strategies. The role also aims to strengthen georeferencing and geomantic capabilities within the department's platforms, ensuring the effective functioning of IT operations and administrative coordination to support the Chief Security Advisor and Deputy Chief Security Advisor.
Responsibilities
Provide substantial technical and operational support to supervisors, participating in IT meetings and maintaining clear communication on progress, risks, and needs. Analyze and document existing ASP.NET Web Forms systems, identifying areas for improvement. Support the migration to modern ASP.NET technologies (MVC, Razor Pages, Blazor, Web API), refactoring business logic and implementing clean architectures. Develop modern, responsive, and accessible front-end interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap, ensuring adherence to WCAG standards. Integrate applications with internal APIs and design reusable services. Optimize SQL databases, create stored procedures, and manage data integrity. Execute functional tests, document technical details, and support application deployment and user training. Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and security of information, and contribute to knowledge sharing and capacity development initiatives.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required for candidates with a Secondary Education Diploma, or 2 years for those with a University Professional Degree. Experience should be in ASP.NET web application development (Web Forms and modern technologies like MVC or Web API), including system migration and modernization.
Skills
Proficiency in ASP.NET (Web Forms, Core, MVC, Razor Pages, Blazor, Web API), C#, VB, Visual Studio 2017+. Front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap), JavaScript, JQuery, LINQ. SQL Server (2016+), Azure SQL Server, Access databases. API integration. Experience with Microsoft Windows 11 and Server 2019+. Implementation of maps (Google Maps, MapBox). Fluency in Spanish is required; intermediate English is desirable.
