Job Purpose
This internship aims to support the Governance and Peacebuilding portfolio within the UNDP Resilience Hub for Africa. The intern will contribute to strengthening policy analysis, programme development, and knowledge management related to governance, conflict prevention, and social cohesion in the Horn of Africa. This role offers a practical opportunity to engage with UNDP's efforts in advancing inclusive governance and resilience programming, while gaining valuable experience in development policy and programme implementation within a dynamic regional context.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the Governance and Peacebuilding portfolio by managing knowledge tracking and repository systems, including establishing and maintaining a structured knowledge base on cross-border issues and a directory of key actors. Responsibilities include developing and managing the Great Lakes Cross-Border Monitor, which involves monthly research, analysis, and synthesis of regional developments and trends. The intern will also conduct thematic analysis on cross-border dynamics to inform programming and policy, support knowledge dissemination to stakeholders, and contribute to the integration of knowledge and analysis into programme design, implementation, and resource mobilization efforts.
Work Experience
While not strictly required, demonstrated interest in governance, peacebuilding, or development policy is expected. Experience in research, policy analysis, communication for development, or academic writing is desirable. Familiarity with governance and conflict dynamics in Africa is considered an advantage.
