Job Purpose
The Project Manager (NPSA-10) will provide strategic and adaptive leadership for project management within UNDP Bangladesh. This role is crucial for ensuring results-based planning, effective implementation, rigorous monitoring, evaluation, and timely reporting of projects. The incumbent will operate in alignment with UNDP's programming principles, specific project documents, donor requirements, and government priorities. The position contributes to achieving UNDP's strategic objectives in Bangladesh, particularly within the Democratic Governance and Resilient and Inclusive Growth clusters, by driving project success and fostering national ownership and sustainable development outcomes.
Responsibilities
The Project Manager is responsible for comprehensive results-based project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. This involves overseeing financial and human resources, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing project teams to meet targets. The role includes risk management, quality assurance, and championing UNDP's zero-tolerance policies. Key duties involve preparing progress reports, facilitating governance mechanisms, overseeing procurement, and maintaining project documentation. Additionally, the Project Manager provides technical oversight, builds and maintains strategic partnerships with government, UN agencies, civil society, and the private sector. They will also lead advocacy, policy support, knowledge management, communications, and resource mobilization efforts, including developing innovative financing strategies and donor relations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant project/programme management experience in the development sector is required (7 years with a Bachelor's degree), including at least 3 years in a senior managerial role. Demonstrated experience in leading complex, multi-stakeholder programs, managing teams and budgets, and delivering results at scale is essential.
