Organizational Context
UNDP Bangladesh implements a broad portfolio of development programmes in areas such as governance, poverty reduction, climate change, and gender equality. The organization partners with the Government of Bangladesh, civil society, the private sector, and other development partners to achieve national development priorities and the SDGs. This role is part of a roster recruitment for Project Managers at the NPSA-9 level.
Job Purpose
This Terms of Reference is for Roster Recruitment purposes, establishing a talent pool for Project Managers at the NPSA-9 level within UNDP Bangladesh. The selected candidates will be deployed to various projects and programmes across diverse thematic areas, including governance, poverty reduction, climate change, and health. The role is crucial for providing strategic and adaptive leadership in project management, ensuring results-based planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting in alignment with UNDP's principles, donor requirements, and national priorities. The Project Manager will contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 through effective project execution and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring results-based project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. This involves providing oversight, managing financial and human resources in compliance with UNDP regulations, and leading the preparation of work plans and budgets. The role includes managing project teams, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring quality assurance processes and adherence to UNDP's zero-tolerance standards for misconduct. Key duties also encompass preparing high-quality progress reports, facilitating governance mechanisms, overseeing procurement, and maintaining project documentation. Additionally, the Project Manager will contribute to technical oversight, partnership management, stakeholder engagement, evidence-based advocacy, policy support, knowledge management, communications, learning, resource mobilization, and donor relations, ensuring cross-cutting themes like gender equality and social inclusion are integrated.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant project/programme management experience in the development sector is required for candidates with a Master's degree, or 4 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Proven experience in areas such as governance, social protection, climate change, or poverty reduction is necessary. Experience in managing project activities, budgets, work plans, and leading teams is essential.
