Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been a partner in Bangladesh since 1972, supporting democratic governance, climate adaptation, environmental protection, and inclusive growth. This role operates within the RIG cluster, contributing to the achievement of strategic objectives outlined in UNDP's Country Programme Document and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate (Finance & Admin) will provide essential operational, financial, and administrative support to ensure the effective and compliant management of project resources. This role is crucial for maintaining smooth project operations in line with UNDP's financial regulations, donor stipulations, and Government of Bangladesh guidelines. The position contributes to the overall efficiency and success of project delivery by ensuring accurate financial reporting, diligent administrative support, and robust quality assurance. The role also supports knowledge building and sharing within the project team, enhancing operational performance and adherence to best practices.
Responsibilities
Manage financial operations including setting up financial controls, processing transactions, and monitoring expenditures against approved work plans and budgets. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, and process payment requests, ensuring compliance with UNDP rules. Coordinate administrative and logistical support for project activities, including events and field missions. Maintain proper record-keeping for administrative, financial, and asset-related documents. Assist in HR activities, procurement processes, and drafting administrative documents. Ensure quality assurance and compliance by verifying implementing partner activities, supporting audits, and maintaining organized documentation. Facilitate knowledge building by participating in trainings and providing support to project staff on financial and administrative procedures.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in administration and financial management is required with a secondary education, or 4 years with a bachelor's degree. Experience in development projects, government, or international organizations is essential. Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and knowledge of donor financial rules are necessary.
