Job Purpose
The Project Manager (NPSA-10) will provide strategic and adaptive leadership for project management within UNDP Bangladesh. This role is crucial for ensuring results-based planning, effective implementation, rigorous monitoring, and accurate reporting of projects, adhering to UNDP's programming principles, project documents, donor requirements, and government priorities. The position contributes to achieving the objectives outlined in UNDP's Country Programme Document and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, supporting Bangladesh's development aspirations in areas such as democratic governance and resilient growth. The role involves managing resources, mitigating risks, fostering partnerships, and ensuring quality assurance to deliver impactful development outcomes.
Responsibilities
The Project Manager is responsible for comprehensive results-based project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. This involves overseeing financial and human resources in compliance with UNDP regulations, preparing work plans and budgets, and managing project teams to achieve set targets. The role includes risk management, adaptive management, and ensuring quality assurance processes are met. The Project Manager will champion UNDP's zero-tolerance policies and ensure safeguards are embedded. Key duties involve preparing high-quality reports, facilitating governance mechanisms, overseeing procurement, and maintaining project documentation. Additionally, the role requires providing technical oversight, managing partnerships with government, UN agencies, civil society, and the private sector, and promoting cross-cutting themes like gender equality and social inclusion. The Project Manager will also lead advocacy, policy support, knowledge management, communications, and resource mobilization efforts, including developing financing strategies and donor relations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project/programme management in the development sector is required, with at least 3 years in a senior managerial role. Demonstrated experience in leading complex, multi-stakeholder programs, managing teams and budgets, and delivering results at scale is essential. Experience in specific development areas, strategic writing, and building institutional relationships is also required.
