The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in Afghanistan, a country facing significant socio-economic and environmental challenges. The Sustainable Livelihood and Resilience portfolio focuses on human development, aiming to build resilience against shocks and support livelihoods. This specific project, Social Protection, Inclusion and Social Cohesion for Resilient Communities (SPIS), seeks to restore social, human, and financial capital through community dialogue and inclusive initiatives.
Job Purpose
This internship supports the Social Protection, Inclusion and Social Cohesion for Resilient Communities (SPIS) project in Afghanistan. The role contributes to enhancing resilience, inclusion, and social cohesion by assisting in the documentation of project activities, partner reports, and beneficiary stories. The intern will help maintain organized project documentation, track progress, and support the preparation of various reports and communication materials. This position is crucial for ensuring effective project monitoring, reporting, and knowledge management, ultimately contributing to the project's objective of restoring essential capitals and fostering community recovery in a fragile context.
Responsibilities
Support the documentation of project activities by reviewing partner reports, meeting notes, and activity updates. Extract key information and prepare summaries of achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and best practices. Document beneficiary and human-interest stories based on field inputs. Maintain organized digital project files, including documents, submissions, meeting records, photos, and reports. Assist in maintaining trackers for partner submissions, activity progress, reporting deadlines, and inclusion indicators. Support the preparation and formatting of documentation tools and templates. Compile inputs for internal updates, briefing notes, presentations, donor reports, and communication materials. Participate in remote coordination meetings, take notes, summarize action points, and follow up on pending documentation.
Work Experience
Prior internships or research experience with an international organization is required. A minimum of one previous internship or relevant professional experience with an international organization or NGO is desired. Experience in organizing outreach and dialogue activities, coordinating meetings, and working on social cohesion and inclusion protection is also considered an asset.
