This role supports the project aimed at improving the conditions and dignifying the work of street vendors in the historic district, integrating them into the city's tourism and urban development models.
Job Purpose
The Project Architect will lead the design and development of prototype equipment for street vendors in Cartagena's historic district as part of the Mayor's Challenge project. This involves creating detailed designs for various vendor types, overseeing procurement, and ensuring satisfactory delivery of architectural services. The role also includes sharing project learnings globally, contributing to policy reports, and fostering partnerships with government, NGOs, and beneficiaries to ensure inclusive implementation and support the project's objectives of enhancing vendor livelihoods and public space organization.
Responsibilities
Develop detailed prototype designs for vendor equipment, specifying technical characteristics for different activities (food, crafts, etc.). Lead planning, decision-making, and review of all equipment-related needs. Prepare Terms of Reference for procurement, including technical specifications. Supervise service providers and consultants for architectural designs, conducting performance evaluations. Certify the satisfactory delivery of architectural services. Facilitate information analysis for procurement plans and monitor implementation. Oversee project operations, including administrative tasks and staff management. Develop technical knowledge products on project contributions to SDGs and share lessons learned globally. Participate in international exchanges on local SDG implementation. Build and maintain strategic relationships with project partners, including government officials, businesses, NGOs, and beneficiaries.
Work Experience
Candidates with a Master's degree require no professional work experience. Those with a Bachelor's degree must have at least two years of relevant professional experience in architecture or engineering, with at least one year focused on urban-related issues.
Skills
Project management, effective decision-making, working with evidence and data, inclusive urban development and design, SDG integration and acceleration, innovation ecosystems, computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
