Organizational Context
The UNDP Crisis Resilience unit, specifically within the Sinergia+ project, aims to strengthen CONANP's institutional capacity for results-based planning, financial management, and effective governance. This role contributes to enhancing Mexico's fulfillment of international designation commitments, focusing on biodiversity and ecological balance.
Job Purpose
This Project Associate role is crucial for strengthening actions related to Mexico's international designation commitments. The position emphasizes coordination with UNESCO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SEMARNAT, external partners, and regional/protected area directorates. The primary goal is to facilitate the integration of reports, respond to information requests, and ensure the follow-up of projects, directly contributing to the "Institutional Efficiency" strategic outcome of the Sinergia+ project. This involves managing communication, supporting event organization, and ensuring compliance with international requirements.
Responsibilities
Coordinate actions with regional and protected area directorates for implementing the Biosphere Reserves Network framework and international designation guidelines. Maintain constant communication with national, international, and external stakeholders, as well as internal directorates, regarding international designations. Assist in coordinating responses to information requests about Biosphere Reserves (MaB program). Provide support for organizing meetings, events, and workshops, including drafting reports and minutes. Collaborate in coordinating project management and follow-up with relevant directorates to meet UNESCO requirements. Coordinate with working groups for the integration of Periodic Review Reports and submission of additional information.
Work Experience
For candidates with a High School Diploma, 7 years of experience in environmental issues, international designations, and protected natural areas are required. For candidates with a university degree, 4 years of experience in these same areas are required.
Skills
Experience in report and minutes preparation for agreement compliance. Experience in organizing and facilitating workshops, meetings, and events. Experience in information systematization and analysis. Desired: Fieldwork experience with communities, sustainable project management, international conservation initiatives, inter-institutional coordination, and governance processes.
