The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) China Country Office supports China's development by integrating SDGs, promoting a sustainable economy, and fostering international cooperation. The Greater Tumen Initiative (GTI), supported by UNDP, is an intergovernmental mechanism for economic cooperation in Northeast Asia, involving China, South Korea, Mongolia, and Russia. GTI aims to strengthen regional development and is transitioning into an independent international organization.
Job Purpose
This internship offers a comprehensive understanding of the Greater Tumen Initiative's (GTI) intergovernmental cooperation processes, institutional framework, and project activities within a multicultural setting. The intern will support the GTI Secretariat by assisting staff with project management, organizing intergovernmental meetings and forums, and contributing to promotional activities. This role is crucial for facilitating regional economic cooperation, enhancing policy dialogue, and strengthening the business environment in Northeast Asia, ultimately contributing to improved living standards through infrastructure development, trade, and investment promotion. The position reports to the Finance and Admin Associate and involves coordinating events, managing logistics, communicating with stakeholders, and providing administrative support.
Responsibilities
The intern will coordinate and assist in preparing and organizing GTI events and activities, including managing logistic arrangements for meetings, workshops, and seminars. This involves planning participant logistics such as flights, accommodation, venue, and transportation, and communicating with suppliers and participants. The role includes supporting programme officers with documentation like invitation letters, meeting materials, and minutes. Additionally, the intern will assist in developing and managing new media operations, particularly the official WeChat account, to enhance online presence. Research support involves preparing research reports and compiling relevant materials. Administrative support includes making travel arrangements for staff and assisting with office procurement. The intern will perform other duties as required by the supervisor.
Work Experience
Experience in event organization or program assistance is preferred, particularly with international organizations. Experience in organizing international meetings and events, as well as in preparing research reports, is also desirable.
Skills
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and AI tools. Strong communication and drafting skills in English. Ability to perform in a multicultural environment. Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills. Interest and knowledge of Northeast Asia and GTI activities are preferred.
