Project Officer - Innovation In Sustainable Design (open To Internal & External Applicants)
Organizational Context
The Danish Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI), hosted by UNDP Egypt, is a four-year program (2025-2028) focused on innovation in sustainable design and green transition. It fosters dialogue on climate, peace, and security between Denmark and Egypt. UNDP provides technical, operational, and administrative support, including grant management, partnership development, and financial oversight, ensuring alignment with national development priorities and the Danish Arab Partnership Programme.
Job Purpose
This Project Officer role supports the Danish Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI) in Egypt, focusing on Component 1: Innovation in Sustainable Design. The purpose is to provide technical support, foster partnerships, and coordinate programs that empower youth in innovation, green transition, and entrepreneurship. The role contributes to designing and delivering innovation programs, including incubation cycles and SME collaborations, and developing youth-led business models. It also involves monitoring, reporting, and knowledge management to ensure continuous learning and program improvement, ultimately contributing to Egypt's green transition agenda and the broader DAPP objectives.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and advisory for program activities related to innovation, youth, entrepreneurship, and green transition skills, ensuring efficient delivery. Develop and co-create program concepts for events like bootcamps and incubation cycles, and lead proposal calls for youth participants. Support the refinement of youth-driven business models and technical solutions, while proactively identifying and mitigating project risks. Cultivate and coordinate partnerships in Egypt and Denmark with universities, innovation hubs, SMEs, and other organizations. Lead the finalization of contractual agreements and support financial tracking and procurement processes. Facilitate collaboration between youth innovators, stakeholders, and industry partners. Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) by developing indicators, tracking KPIs, and preparing progress reports. Facilitate knowledge management, communication, and the application of innovative approaches to program delivery.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (with a Master's degree) or 4 years (with a Bachelor's degree) is required. This experience should be at the national or international level in designing and/or implementing innovation programs, entrepreneurship support initiatives (e.g., incubation, acceleration), and youth-focused programs related to sustainable development or the green transition.
