Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) China Country Office supports China's development by integrating SDGs into national priorities, promoting sustainable economic transitions, and fostering international cooperation. Operating for four decades, UNDP China collaborates with government ministries, UN agencies, and diverse stakeholders to advance global progress on SDGs and climate agendas. The office is preparing for its new Country Programme Document for 2026-2030.
Job Purpose
The International Communications Analyst provides essential support to UNDP China's communications and advocacy initiatives. This role is crucial for implementing the Country Office's communication strategies and action plans. The analyst will be responsible for crafting, editing, and refining external and internal communications materials. Key contributions include developing and executing the international social media strategy, managing online platforms like the country office website, and offering creative input for projects. The purpose is to enhance the visibility and impact of UNDP's work in China and globally, ensuring effective storytelling and engagement with diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies and action plans to promote UNDP's work to domestic and international audiences. Draft, edit, and ensure quality assurance for external communications materials, including speeches, Op-Eds, success stories, press releases, website content, and proposals. Assist in creating and executing an international social media strategy, managing social media accounts daily. Manage and disseminate Country Office publications and contribute to the Publications Taskforce. Strengthen international media relations to amplify the impact of UNDP's work and handle media inquiries. Support the design and rollout of high-visibility social media campaigns for SDGs and other advocacy efforts. Provide effective communications support and storytelling to highlight program results. Conduct research and analysis on global development issues for external events and stakeholder engagement. Assist in formulating and implementing team innovation projects.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing is required with a bachelor's degree. Candidates with a master's degree may not require relevant work experience. Experience with website management and developing/managing social media is essential.
