Organizational Context
The UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub (BRH) supports Asia-Pacific countries in their digital transformation journeys. The Regional Innovation and Digital (RID) Team within BRH focuses on inclusive, sustainable, and implementable digital solutions. This role supports the RID Team's efforts to advance regional initiatives, including AI/DPI Stewards and South-South Digital for Development models, in partnership with other development organizations.
Job Purpose
This role is to support UNDP Country Offices and partners in codifying workstreams into project pipelines and programs, and to forge new partnerships that scale impact across the Asia-Pacific region. The Specialist will lead the Digital Stewardship Community of Policymakers, support the co-design and delivery of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and AI Stewards programs, develop the "South-South Digital for Development" offer, and facilitate public sector innovation initiatives in areas like air pollution, climate, and health. The position also involves leading partnership development, resource mobilization, and strategic communications to enhance the reach and effectiveness of UNDP's digital and innovation efforts.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include leading the Digital Stewardship Community of Policymakers in Asia Pacific by facilitating learning sessions, curating content, and coordinating research. The Specialist will support the co-design and delivery of DPI and AI Stewards programs, helping governments translate priorities into practical applications and strengthening institutional capacity. This includes anchoring interdisciplinary teams and supporting DPI Safeguards initiatives. Additionally, the role involves developing the "South-South Digital for Development" offer, facilitating cross-country learning, and co-creating public sector innovation offers for thematic areas such as air pollution, climate, and health. The Specialist will also lead on partnerships, resource mobilization, strategic communications, and outreach engagements.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in development programming and social innovation within the Asia Pacific context is required for candidates with a Master's degree. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree require a minimum of 7 years of such experience. Experience supporting governments and engaging diverse stakeholders on policy advocacy and public sector innovation is essential.
Skills
Proven experience supporting governments and engaging diverse stakeholders on policy advocacy and public sector innovation. Experience in facilitating co-design processes, capacity building, and experimental design. Demonstrated ability in managing donor relationships and resource mobilization. Strong digital awareness and literacy, including emerging technologies like AI. Excellent project management, partnerships management, and communication skills. Experience in public sector strengthening and innovation is also key.
