Organizational Context
The UNDP Mexico, through its Social and Economic Development Unit (UDSE), promotes inclusive, sustainable, and people-centered development. Aligned with Agenda 2030, UDSE strengthens public policies to reduce inequalities and build institutional capacities nationally and sub-nationally. This role, an Associate in Human Development Analysis and Content Development, supports the UDSE's strategic initiatives by generating applied knowledge for public policy.
Job Purpose
The Associate in Human Development Analysis and Content Development will primarily generate applied knowledge for public policy decision-making, focusing on the intersection of human development, inequality, and socio-environmental dynamics. This role supports the UNDP Mexico's Social and Economic Development Unit (UDSE) by developing technical and analytical content for strategic projects. The Associate will conduct substantive analyses, documentary and methodological reviews, integrate evidence, and produce technical outputs related to human development, inequality, territorial development, and socio-environmental dynamics, especially at the sub-national level. A key contribution involves building emerging analytical lines on territorial inequalities and sustainable development, integrating quantitative and qualitative evidence to create technical inputs that directly influence the design, implementation, and evaluation of public policies. The position also facilitates technical articulation with government entities, academia, international organizations, and strategic partners, ensuring the technical follow-up of analytical products and processes for project implementation.
Responsibilities
1. Technical Analysis and Knowledge Generation: Develop technical analyses and analytical products on human development, inequality, territorial development, sustainability, socio-environmental phenomena, and sub-national public policies. This includes conducting documentary reviews, synthesizing specialized literature, developing conceptual frameworks, and integrating quantitative and qualitative data from various sources to produce technical inputs for policy design, implementation, and evaluation.
2. Methodological Support and Content Production: Contribute to designing and strengthening methodological tools and analytical frameworks for unit projects. Participate in creating technical and strategic content related to human development, inequality, territorial development, sustainability, and development finance. Support territorial analysis and evidence generation for projects with sub-national governments and institutional actors, ensuring technical systematization of external inputs.
3. Technical Articulation and Institutional Strengthening: Engage in technical meetings and coordination spaces with public institutions, academia, international organizations, and strategic partners. Provide technical follow-up for projects, analytical products, and consultancies. Contribute to knowledge management, learning systematization, and institutional capacity building, including preparing technical inputs for UNDP planning, monitoring, and reporting instruments.
4. Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Development: Support the creation, exchange, and strengthening of knowledge and relevant capacities. This involves participating in training, organizing internal briefings, assisting in designing and delivering capacity-building tools, and disseminating relevant data and lessons learned within the country office and regionally. Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma, or 3 years with a Bachelor's degree, is required. This experience must involve rigorous technical analysis applied to public policies and territorial development. It includes descriptive and comparative analysis, specialized literature review and synthesis, trend analysis, and exploring relationships between socioeconomic, territorial, fiscal, and environmental variables.
Skills
Applied research and methodological development for complex public problems. Systematization and integration of quantitative and qualitative data. Production of high-quality analytical products (reports, presentations). Application of analytical frameworks for human development, inequality, sustainability, and territorial development. Coordination and technical follow-up of analytical inputs. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; desirable knowledge of R, Stata, Python, Power BI.
