The UNDP Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean Multi-Country Office (MCO) supports sustainable human development and regional commitments, including the SDGs. Job Purpose
The National Project Coordinator will manage and implement the community recovery preparedness activity within the EU-CA-RES project, providing essential technical support for other project activities. This role is crucial for enhancing the resilience of individuals, communities, businesses, and institutions in the Caribbean to prevent, minimize impacts, and recover from slow and rapid onset events. The coordinator will ensure the effective design and execution of community-level interventions, including training, infrastructure support, and local economic recovery initiatives, contributing to the overall objective of increasing resilience to external shocks and facilitating sustainable development in the region.
Responsibilities
The National Project Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of the community recovery preparedness activity, including planning, coordination, and reporting. This involves providing technical inputs for activity design and development, organizing field missions, and monitoring project risks. The role also entails supporting the broader EU-CA-RES project team in activity planning, coordinating in-country missions for international experts, and ensuring alignment with government priorities. Quality assurance of results, timely delivery of activities, and support for monitoring and evaluation are key. Additionally, the coordinator will engage in advocacy and partner engagement, fostering strategic partnerships with stakeholders at community, national, and local levels, and contributing to knowledge building and sharing within the project and UNDP.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required with secondary education, or 4 years with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should focus on supporting the management, coordination, and administration of sustainable development projects, particularly those related to climate, disaster risk reduction, or recovery at the community level. Experience in project management, coordination of donor-funded projects, community engagement, and capacity building for disaster preparedness and recovery planning is highly valued.

Fluency in English and the national creole is required.
