Job Purpose
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Analyst supports the Action for Climate and Environment (ACE) Unit at UNDP India by strengthening its monitoring, reporting, and learning capacities. The role involves managing monitoring and reporting platforms and ensuring that data from project implementation, evaluations, and reviews is effectively captured, synthesized, and shared. This position is crucial for ensuring corporate compliance, supporting strategic planning, and facilitating results reporting within the ACE Unit. The Analyst works under the guidance of the Senior Advisor and Team Leader, collaborating with the Programme Management and Support Unit and project teams. The role contributes to the effective delivery of the unit's objectives by ensuring data-driven insights inform programme implementation and adaptive management, ultimately accelerating the achievement of national and global development goals in India, particularly for vulnerable communities. The incumbent will also support cross-functional collaboration across units and projects.
Responsibilities
The MER Analyst ensures effective unit delivery by managing data and supporting programme implementation. Key responsibilities include: Monitoring: Systematically apply Results-Based Management (RBM) principles, strengthen portfolio-level monitoring frameworks, track project progress, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions. Maintain data collection and reporting systems, coordinate risk tracking, ensure adherence to UNDP monitoring standards, and facilitate monitoring missions. Support capacity development for programme teams on RBM and data management. Evaluation: Support planning, coordination, and follow-up of evaluations, reviews, and assessments. Facilitate documentation, ensure systematic maintenance of evaluation reports, and support the identification and application of lessons learned and best practices. Contribute to evidence-based analytical inputs and strengthen the portfolio’s results framework. Reporting: Coordinate the preparation and consolidation of donor and corporate reports, ensuring timely, accurate, and results-oriented reporting on programme progress, challenges, and lessons learned. Prepare analytical briefs and presentations, ensuring consistency and quality assurance in reporting formats. Capacity Building & Knowledge Sharing: Organize learning and training activities on M&E, RBM, and data collection. Identify, synthesize, and disseminate key lessons learned and good practices, and contribute to knowledge networks.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree require no professional work experience. Those with a Bachelor's degree need a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in data collection, analysis, and research for effective programme management. This includes strong experience coordinating with stakeholders, field teams, and partners for data collection and reporting. Desirable experience includes developing and applying M&E frameworks, managing evaluations, database management, and UN/NGO experience.
