Organizational Context
The UNDP project Sinergia+ aims to strengthen CONANP's management processes for effective planning, robust finances, and strategic alliances to enhance ecosystem connectivity and safeguard biodiversity. This role contributes to the 'Institutional Efficiency' outcome, supporting conservation actions, logistical support for research, species monitoring, conservation education, and surveillance within Natural Protected Areas (NPAs).
Job Purpose
This Project Assistant role supports the Sinergia+ project by contributing to conservation efforts within Natural Protected Areas (NPAs). The purpose is to provide logistical and technical assistance for research, species monitoring, conservation education, and surveillance activities. This includes ensuring compliance with regulations and management plans, and supporting the establishment and regulation of NPAs. The role directly contributes to the 'Institutional Efficiency' outcome by facilitating data generation, monitoring, and reporting, thereby strengthening CONANP's operational capabilities and promoting ecological conservation and biodiversity protection.
Responsibilities
Participate in monitoring priority species according to established protocols and assist NPAs in engaging local communities in data generation projects. Support terrestrial and marine supervision and surveillance activities within the NPA, including database development. Follow up on control and/or eradication actions for plant and animal species, and restoration of forest resources. Contribute to information generation with researchers, universities, NGOs, and advisory councils. Develop reports that support the fulfillment of the NPA's annual operational plans. Work under the direct technical supervision of the Director of Revillagigedo National Park, the Regional Director of the Baja California Peninsula and Northern Pacific, and the General Coordinator of the Sinergia+ Project.
Work Experience
For candidates with a high school diploma/baccalaureate, 3 years of verifiable experience in Marine Sampling Techniques are required. For candidates with university-level studies, no experience is required. Experience in Protected Natural Areas, particularly Revillagigedo National Park, is advantageous.
Skills
Required: Quality report writing, environmental regulations. Desired: Monitoring, supervision and surveillance activities, conservation polygons and ecological data analysis, fieldwork with local communities, mapping, databases, statistical software, GIS, satellite platforms.
