Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Mexico, through the BIOFIN initiative, supports national efforts to implement the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. This role contributes to strengthening biodiversity financing by analyzing private sector expenditure, in collaboration with INEGI and CONABIO, to meet national biodiversity goals and international commitments.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide technical, operational, and strategic support for the joint work program between BIOFIN and INEGI. This involves facilitating coordination, monitoring progress, and contributing to the development of methodologies for measuring private sector expenditure on biodiversity. The role aims to enhance the transparency and completeness of financial data related to biodiversity conservation, supporting Mexico's national biodiversity targets and international obligations under the Global Biodiversity Framework. Ultimately, this position contributes to informed decision-making and the effective mobilization of resources for biodiversity protection.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include organizing and facilitating kick-off meetings, ensuring effective technical and operational coordination between BIOFIN and INEGI, and monitoring the joint work program's progress, risks, and opportunities. The role involves providing technical support for state-of-the-art reviews, information source identification, and methodological proposals for measuring private biodiversity expenditure, including international best practices. Additionally, responsibilities encompass logistical support for meetings, compiling and analyzing program progress information, preparing periodic reports, and maintaining organized records of activities and key documents. The position also supports the development of communication and knowledge management materials to facilitate learning and sharing of best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of experience is required, with a high school diploma, in areas related to national accounts, statistical data analysis, and research on methodological frameworks. Experience with computer use, MS Office Suite, AI tools, and programming software like Eviews or Stata is also necessary.
Skills
