Project Analyst PRR (open To Internal And External Applicants)
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in approximately 170 countries, assisting governments in poverty eradication and reducing inequalities. The Multi-Country Office for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean serves ten territories, structured into three programme clusters: Poverty & Governance, Nature Climate Energy, and Prevention, Recovery & Resilience (PRR). This role sits within the PRR cluster, which focuses on crisis management and supports multi-hazard risk reduction, crisis response, disaster recovery, and early warning systems.
Job Purpose
The Project Analyst is responsible for supporting the effective implementation of strategic and high-impact projects within the Prevention, Recovery & Resilience (PRR) cluster. This role involves the day-to-day management and decision-making for assigned projects, ensuring efficient utilization of resources (human, financial, physical) to achieve expected results. The Project Analyst will also provide administrative guidance to other projects within the cluster, coordinate project activities, manage risks, and ensure compliance with UNDP procedures. Additionally, the role supports the development and inception of new projects, fostering partnerships, and facilitating knowledge sharing and capacity building to advance UNDP's development objectives in the region.
Responsibilities
The Project Analyst is accountable for the comprehensive management and coordination of assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery of outputs within budget and in alignment with project objectives and results frameworks. Key duties include monitoring project progress, managing risks through a dedicated log, and ensuring adherence to UNDP implementation processes. This involves supervising project documentation, coordinating procurement and recruitment, managing contracts, and facilitating stakeholder engagement and communications. The role also entails supporting the development and inception of new projects, including due diligence and platform setup. Furthermore, the Project Analyst will establish and maintain strategic partnerships with government officials, NGOs, and other stakeholders, providing technical support and acting as a liaison. A crucial aspect is facilitating knowledge management, capacity building, and advocacy related to the project's thematic areas, including organizing training and documenting best practices.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree are not required to have professional work experience. Those with a Bachelor's degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in managing, coordinating, and administering sustainable development projects at the national or international level. Experience with computer software, project management tools, budget management, and working in a regional/multi-country setting is desirable.
