Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Brazil is implementing a project focused on strengthening and monitoring innovation in the penal and socio-educational systems. This initiative aims to develop innovative methodologies to ensure the proper functioning of these systems, aligning with national and international human rights principles. The project specifically supports the National Council of Justice (CNJ) in enhancing judicial capacities and ensuring compliance with court decisions regarding the unconstitutional state of Brazilian prisons.

Job Purpose

The Communication and Advocacy Associate will join the "Fazendo Justiça" program team, working closely with the National Council of Justice (CNJ), UNDP, and other institutional partners. This role is responsible for planning and executing communication actions that highlight the program's impact on the penal and socio-educational systems. The associate will produce high-quality content across various formats and platforms, translating complex technical information into accessible narratives for a broad audience, including legal professionals and the general public. The position requires a proactive, results-oriented individual to serve as a key reference in the communication team, contributing to strategic messaging, advocacy efforts, and the overall visibility of the program's initiatives. The role also involves administrative tasks, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure the quality and effectiveness of communication strategies.

Responsibilities

The Communication and Advocacy Associate will plan and execute communication strategies to showcase the program's impact on the penal and socio-educational systems. Key duties include leading the conception and production of diverse content (articles, releases, videos, social media cards, infographics), ensuring narrative consistency and institutional alignment. The role involves translating technical information into accessible language, liaising with technical areas and partners for accurate information, and producing high-quality internal communication materials like analytical reports and executive bulletins. The associate will also support decision-making processes by organizing strategic information, participate in internal and partner meetings, and lead communication planning for national and regional events and training sessions. Additionally, responsibilities include managing media relations, monitoring media coverage, contributing to advocacy strategies, developing innovative communication initiatives, and overseeing editorial production and publication workflows. The role also entails structuring performance indicators, producing strategic analyses, and contributing to knowledge management by systematizing and disseminating program learnings and best practices.

Work Experience

A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in institutional communication (including content production, stakeholder relations, and communication support) is required for candidates with a high school diploma. Candidates with a university degree need a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Experience in institutional communication for public and private organizations, particularly with the judiciary, and in areas related to justice, human rights, and social projects is desired.

Skills

Proficiency in IT and MS Office Suite. Fluency in Portuguese is required; basic English is desirable. Key competencies include achieving results, innovative thinking, continuous learning, adaptability, determination, engagement, and partnership. Strategic thinking, project management, knowledge generation, knowledge facilitation, innovation, digital product design, and social media expertise are also valuable.
