Project Associate
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Iran has partnered with the Government since 1966, supporting national development priorities. A significant initiative is its role as Principal Recipient for Global Fund grants since 2005, focusing on HIV and tuberculosis response. This Project Associate role supports the "Enhancement of the National HIV Response" project, working within the UNDP Iran country office.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate supports the implementation of Global Fund-supported HIV/AIDS project activities in Iran, ensuring high-quality performance and achievement of results. This role involves coordinating project planning and implementation, providing operational support to Sub-Recipients (SRs), and ensuring alignment with the National Strategic Plan. The associate will assist in monitoring project progress, both substantively and financially, and contribute to reporting requirements for the SR, Global Fund, and UNDP. Additionally, the role provides administrative support, assists in preparing strategic documents, and helps document lessons learned and best practices to enhance the project's overall effectiveness and impact on national HIV response efforts.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate is responsible for supporting effective project planning and implementation by gathering and analyzing background information. They provide operational support to Sub-Recipients (SRs), ensuring adherence to work plans and policies of the Government, UNDP, and the Global Fund. This includes coordinating activities with the National Strategic Plan, updating the project work plan, and supporting procurement processes for goods and services. The role also involves monitoring the distribution and inventory of procured items. Furthermore, the associate supports monitoring and evaluation efforts by analyzing progress, assisting in report preparation, participating in field visits, and ensuring follow-up on recommendations. Administrative duties include preparing meeting agendas and minutes, assisting with strategic document preparation, and documenting lessons learned and best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience with secondary education, or 3 years with a bachelor's degree, is required in supporting the coordination, implementation, or monitoring and evaluation of development projects. Experience with computer software and web-based management systems is necessary. Desirable experience includes working with UN agencies, governments, NGOs, and civil society; risk management principles; Welfare Organization activities (health, HIV, addiction control); data analysis and reporting; and procurement management.
