Project Associate
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Türkiye, within its Climate Change and Environment Portfolio, is implementing the EU Partnership for Local Climate Action in Türkiye project. This initiative aims to bolster local climate action and guide the nation towards a climate-resilient and low-carbon future. The Project Associate will support the Project Manager in day-to-day activities, reporting, and stakeholder liaison.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate will provide crucial support to the Project Manager in the efficient and timely implementation of the 'EU Partnership for Local Climate Action in Türkiye' project. This role is instrumental in ensuring the smooth execution of project activities, including planning, budget management, procurement support, and logistical coordination for events and stakeholder engagement. The associate will contribute to enhancing local climate action capacity by supporting the development and implementation of Local Climate Change Action Plans (LCCAPs) and ensuring effective communication and documentation throughout the project lifecycle. This position is key to achieving the project's objectives of improving climate risk assessment, planning, decision-making, and public awareness at the local level in Türkiye.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will support project planning, including the preparation and revision of Annual Work Plans (AWPs), budgets, and procurement plans. They will provide essential administrative and logistical support for project activities such as trainings, workshops, and stakeholder consultations, including managing travel arrangements and visa support for international experts. The role involves assisting in budget expenditure control, maintaining equipment records, and ensuring timely filing and archiving of project documents. Additionally, the associate will coordinate project activities with partners, organize meetings and events, monitor contractor performance, and prepare inputs for progress reports. They will also support procurement processes by preparing documentation, assisting in bid evaluations, and reviewing technical reports to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible administrative experience is required with a high school diploma, or 4 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree. Experience in climate change adaptation, local climate action planning, or vulnerability risk assessment is also required.
Skills
Excellent command of Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications. Proven technical experience in climate change adaptation, local climate action planning, or vulnerability risk assessment. Experience in project cycle management. Desired skills include experience with public institutions, municipalities, NGOs, academia, donors, consultants, event coordination, monitoring project progress, and supporting technical documentation review. Fluency in Turkish and English is required.
