National Environmental Finance Analyst [open To Internal And External Applicants]
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Thailand partners with national and local institutions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN) aims to address biodiversity finance challenges by building a business case for increased investment in ecosystem and biodiversity management. This role supports the BIOFIN Programme in Thailand.
Job Purpose
The National Environmental Finance Analyst provides technical and project support to the BIOFIN team and government counterparts in Thailand. The role focuses on implementing finance solutions identified through the BIOFIN process to achieve finance results for biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. This involves contributing to the National Biodiversity Finance Plan, leading the execution of finance solutions, fostering partnerships, and facilitating capacity building and knowledge management to support the integration of biodiversity finance into national strategies and frameworks, ultimately contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.
Responsibilities
The National Environmental Finance Analyst will contribute to the preparation and review of the National Biodiversity Finance Plan, providing technical inputs and impact assessments. Key responsibilities include leading the planning and execution of finance solutions, collaborating with government counterparts on design and implementation, and fostering strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders. The role involves developing and reviewing finance solution proposals, preparing project documents, and providing feedback on technical documents. Additionally, the analyst will participate in field missions, develop knowledge products, supervise consultants, integrate gender equality and sustainable livelihoods, and collaborate with other UNDP initiatives. Facilitating capacity building through communities of practice, knowledge-sharing sessions, and workshops, as well as contributing to resource mobilization efforts, are also crucial. The role includes documenting best practices, supporting the refinement of BIOFIN methodologies, and disseminating project results.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (with a Master's degree) or 4 years (with a Bachelor's degree) is required in public or private sector finance, sustainable development/biodiversity finance, resource mobilization, biodiversity conservation, or natural resource management. Prior experience in designing or implementing sustainable finance mechanisms or projects, and working with governments or the private sector on sustainable finance, is essential.
