Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience within the UNV's Procurement, Travel, and Administration Unit (PTAU). The intern will support the unit's core functions, contributing to efficient and compliant operations that facilitate UNV's mission. Key areas of support include asset and inventory management, ensuring accurate record-keeping and tracking of organizational assets and supplies. Additionally, the intern will assist with administrative services, including record management, document disposal, and general clerical support. This role provides insight into operations management within an international organization and exposure to UNV's programmatic and operational activities, fostering professional development and a deeper understanding of the UN system.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide crucial support to the Procurement, Travel, and Administration Unit (PTAU) in several key areas. In Asset and Inventory Management, duties include maintaining and updating asset and inventory records, registering and tagging items, conducting physical verifications, reconciling data, preparing reports, managing records of asset movements, counting office supplies, and assisting with asset disposal and transfer processes. For Administrative Services, responsibilities involve organizing, archiving, and maintaining physical and electronic records, facilitating document disposal according to policy, supporting office furniture moves, updating contact lists and directories, and providing general administrative and clerical support. The intern may also be assigned other relevant ad hoc activities.
Work Experience
While not strictly required, familiarity with the UN system is an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office productivity tools is essential. Experience or a strong interest in volunteering is also considered a significant advantage for this role.
