Job Purpose
The Roving Field Coordinator is responsible for the effective planning, implementation, and operational management of assigned projects within South Sudan. This involves coordinating day-to-day activities, ensuring adherence to UNDP policies and guidelines, and optimizing resource utilization to achieve project objectives. The role also focuses on establishing and maintaining strong partnerships with stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and beneficiaries, to foster inclusive implementation and support resource mobilization efforts. Additionally, the coordinator will monitor progress, report on achievements, and facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building activities to enhance project impact and sustainability.
Responsibilities
Coordinate project planning and implementation, ensuring work plans and budgets align with UNDP guidelines and capacity assessments. Manage daily project activities, providing technical advice and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery of outputs within budget constraints. Facilitate inclusive platforms for implementation and collaborate with other units for integrated development approaches. Ensure operational management, including procurement and resource management, and integrate gender equality perspectives. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with implementing partners, government, businesses, NGOs, and beneficiaries. Conduct stakeholder analysis and prepare briefs for cooperation opportunities. Provide technical support and act as a liaison between UNDP and partners. Monitor project progress against targets, update results frameworks, and manage emerging issues and risks. Prepare corporate, donor, and government reports, and ensure proper operational and financial closure of projects. Facilitate knowledge building, sharing, and advocacy through training, workshops, and documentation of best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required for candidates with a Master's degree, or 4 years for those with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should be at the national or international level in providing management advisory services, and/or hands-on experience in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of development projects.
Skills
Proficiency in computer use, including MS Office Suite and web-based management systems. Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages. Strong networking and partnership development abilities. Knowledge and experience in project management. Experience within the UN system or international organizations is desired. Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
