Job Purpose
The Project Analyst will support the Project Manager in the implementation of the "Scaling up climate resilient flood risk management" project in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This role is crucial for addressing the country's vulnerability to flood-related disasters by contributing to the establishment of an integrated, gender-responsive flood risk management approach. The analyst will assist in strengthening institutional, technical, and financial capacities, and in implementing both structural and non-structural measures. A key aspect of the role involves enhancing climate information use, flood forecasting, early warning systems, and emergency response to improve adaptive capacity and resilience of at-risk communities, aligning with the global "Early Warnings for All" initiative. The position also involves ensuring environmental and social safeguards are integrated throughout project activities, from formulation to implementation, and contributing to knowledge management and gender mainstreaming.
Responsibilities
The Project Analyst will provide essential inputs for project activities, including drafting work plans, developing terms of reference for consultants, and overseeing the implementation of Social and Environmental Screening Procedures (SESP) and Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMP). This involves supporting risk assessment and management, preparing environmental and social instruments, and ensuring compliance in procurement processes. The role includes identifying training needs, organizing workshops, and liaising with various institutions and stakeholders to gather information and facilitate engagement. The analyst will also contribute to quality control, risk analysis, and field monitoring to ensure adherence to environmental and social standards. Furthermore, the position involves preparing progress reports, synthesizing project results, monitoring environmental and social performance, and supporting grievance redress mechanisms. Facilitating knowledge management, ensuring gender mainstreaming across all project activities, and coordinating the dissemination of project achievements are also key responsibilities.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree are not required to have professional work experience. Those with a Bachelor's degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in project implementation at the national or international level. Experience with UNDP Social and Environmental Standards, environmental regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and applying environmental and social risk assessment tools is desirable.
