On-Call Driver
Organizational Context
The Administrative Unit, part of UNDP Operations, provides essential support for transport, travel, logistics, and event management. This role operates under the Administrative Associate – Head of Admin, focusing on reliable and safe driving services. The position is on-call, with a maximum of 130 working days per year, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to operational needs.
Job Purpose
The On-call Driver provides crucial, reliable, and safe transportation services to support UNDP's mission and operational activities in Banja Luka. This role ensures the timely and secure movement of personnel, mail, documents, and equipment. The driver is responsible for maintaining the office vehicle, adhering to all traffic and security regulations, and assisting with airport meet-and-greets. By offering a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, and courtesy, the driver contributes to the efficient functioning of the Administrative Unit and the broader UNDP operations, demonstrating adaptability and professionalism in diverse situations.
Responsibilities
The On-call Driver is responsible for ensuring reliable and secure driving services. Key duties include transporting authorized personnel, delivering and collecting mail and documents, and meeting official visitors at the airport, including assisting with visa and customs formalities. The role also supports office-related transportation needs, such as moving equipment and furniture during office relocations. Maintenance of the office vehicle is critical, involving regular cleaning, checks of oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires, performing minor repairs, and arranging for other necessary servicing. Accurate logging of official trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance is required. The driver must adhere to national and UNDP rules and regulations, especially in case of accidents, and maintain inventories of vehicle and security equipment. Ensuring compliance with all security rules and timely notification of trips for security clearances are also key responsibilities.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 2 years of work experience as a professional driver with a safe driving record. Experience in reliable and secure driving is also desirable.
