Digital Fundraising Specialist [open To All Applicants]
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the lead UN agency for international development, working in 170 countries to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. Within the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS), the Sustainable Finance Hub supports partners in mobilizing finance for Sustainable Development Goals. The Connecting Business Initiative (CBI), a partnership between OCHA and UNDP, facilitates private sector engagement in emergencies. This role sits within CBI, supporting OCHA's strategy to increase private sector resource mobilization.
Job Purpose
The Digital Fundraising Specialist will significantly contribute to shaping OCHA's approach to individual fundraising and corporate giving. This role is key to supporting OCHA's global private sector fundraising strategy, aiming to grow its public supporter base and increase income streams. The specialist will develop and implement digital fundraising marketing strategies, manage initiatives, build strategic partnerships, and optimize paid advertising investments to maximize fundraising revenues and return on investment. The position also involves supporting OCHA's Country Offices in digital media mobilization during emergencies and ensuring robust measurement and reporting frameworks for all campaigns.
Responsibilities
The Digital Fundraising Specialist will lead the implementation of the digital fundraising marketing strategy, working with the Public Advocacy and Campaigns section to align activities with OCHA's Strategic Communications Strategy. This includes developing and building compelling digital fundraising campaigns on OCHA's platforms, creating fundraising-specific content for social media, and contributing to SEO strategies. The role involves managing digital fundraising initiatives and developing strategic partnerships, ensuring project timelines are met and sponsor information is high-quality. Responsibilities include boosting fundraising revenues and ROI through optimization and post-campaign reviews, championing strategic evolution of paid social advertising, and supporting Country Offices in rapid digital media mobilization during emergencies. The specialist will also build and sustain engagement with individual donors via email marketing, moderate digital channels, identify high-performing content, and support analytics reporting and knowledge sharing.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in digital fundraising, social media, or marketing is required with a Master's degree. This requirement increases to seven years with a Bachelor's degree. Experience should include planning, delivery, optimization, and reporting of successful digital fundraising campaigns, handling data and reports, and developing on-brand digital content.
