This role sits within the Nature, Climate, and Energy team, contributing to subnational implementation of climate strategies.
Job Purpose
This Technical Officer role is crucial for supporting the implementation of REDD+ programs and advancing the operationalization of Indonesia's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets at the subnational level. The position will strengthen readiness for carbon market engagement and accelerate the recognition and sustainable management of indigenous forest areas (MHA). The role ensures alignment with national policies, safeguards frameworks, and inclusive approaches, contributing to effective climate action and sustainable development in Indonesia. The purpose is to bridge national climate commitments with practical, equitable implementation on the ground, fostering collaboration and capacity building.
Responsibilities
The Technical Officer will provide technical and coordination support for REDD+ programs, NDC operationalization, and carbon market readiness initiatives, focusing on social forestry and indigenous forest management. Key duties include supporting alignment with national plans, facilitating stakeholder coordination, and ensuring safeguards are implemented. The role involves assisting in integrating NDC targets into subnational planning, strengthening Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems, and supporting carbon project development. Additionally, the officer will promote inclusive approaches for indigenous forest recognition, contribute to policy development, facilitate multi-stakeholder platforms, develop knowledge products, support capacity building through trainings and workshops, and contribute to project reporting and monitoring, ensuring alignment with UNDP standards and inclusive development principles.
