Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Hub for Arab States in Amman supports Country Offices with strategic policy, program development, capacity building, research, knowledge services, and operations. The Operations Management Team provides essential financial, HR, procurement, logistics, and ICT services. This Driver role operates within this framework, reporting to the Administrative Analyst.
Job Purpose
The Driver is responsible for providing reliable and safe transportation services for UNDP/UN officials, high-ranking visitors, and staff within the Amman Regional Hub. This includes ensuring timely and secure transport, assisting with airport arrivals and departures, and handling official correspondence delivery. The role requires maintaining the assigned vehicle, ensuring cost-efficiency, and adhering to all driving rules and security protocols. The Driver also supports administrative tasks related to protocol, visas, and other office functions, contributing to the efficient operation of the Hub and its mission.
Responsibilities
Provide safe and reliable driving services for UNDP/UN officials, visitors, and senior management, adhering to appropriate protocols. Transport personnel to various locations, including airport pick-ups and drop-offs, assisting with formalities as needed. Ensure the secure and timely delivery and collection of official mail, documents, and UNDP pouch. Maintain the assigned office vehicle through regular checks, minor repairs, and scheduled maintenance to ensure cost-efficiency and operational readiness. Accurately record daily vehicle logs and maintenance history, and verify fuel invoices. Ensure all necessary vehicle documents, supplies, and safety equipment are readily available. Respond appropriately to any incidents or accidents according to regulations. Complete required security and driving training. Support administrative duties such as processing customs and visa requests, and assist with other office tasks as necessary.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant work experience as a driver with a proven safe driving record is required. Experience within an NGO or UN setting is considered an asset. Basic computer skills and familiarity with office software packages are desirable.
