Job Purpose
The Programme Associate provides essential support for the execution of programme services within the Country Office Programme Unit, under the supervision of the Team Leader. This role is instrumental in facilitating effective programme and project implementation, supporting design, planning, monitoring, and management of the country programme portfolio. The position contributes to a client-oriented approach, ensuring adherence to UNDP rules and regulations. It involves close collaboration with operations, programme, and project teams to enhance coordination, resolve issues, and ensure timely information flow, ultimately supporting UNDP's strategic goals through a portfolio approach and horizontal collaboration across teams and projects.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate is responsible for administering and implementing programme strategies, ensuring effective application of RBM tools, and supporting the design of mechanisms to enhance programme impact. This includes presenting information for management decisions, troubleshooting project implementation, and facilitating quality assurance. The role supports CO programme management by assisting in the preparation of project documents, work plans, and budgets, and managing project pipelines. It involves providing guidance on routine project implementation, tracking financial resources, monitoring performance indicators, and maintaining programme management tools. Additionally, the role supports administrative functions, controls expenditures, ensures timely corrective actions on financial transactions, and guides project teams on compliance and capacity building. The Programme Associate also facilitates knowledge building and sharing by organizing trainings and synthesizing lessons learned.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant experience with secondary education, or four years with a bachelor's degree, is required. Experience should include programme or project management support, financial monitoring, programme administration, coordination with development partners, and support to donor-funded programmes. Experience with UNDP or other international organizations is an asset.
