Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global leader in fighting poverty, inequality, and climate change. The Mauritius Country Office manages a diverse portfolio of projects, including those funded by the Green Climate Fund and the Global Environment Facility. This role supports the Environment Unit, contributing to the office's mission.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate will provide comprehensive support to the project team, ensuring effective planning and implementation of projects within the UNDP Mauritius Country Office. This role is crucial for maintaining project compliance with UNDP operational policies and procedures, supporting gender mainstreaming, and facilitating administrative and logistical aspects of project delivery. The associate will also contribute to partnership building, resource mobilization, and effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of project progress, ultimately supporting knowledge building and sharing initiatives to enhance project outcomes and organizational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting project planning and implementation by compiling data, drafting work plans and budgets, and ensuring adherence to project documents and agreements. The role involves providing administrative and logistical support for project delivery, including event coordination, procurement, record-keeping, and recruitment. Additionally, the Project Associate will support partnership development by maintaining stakeholder relations, facilitating communication, and contributing to resource mobilization efforts. Monitoring and evaluation support includes collecting and analyzing data, identifying implementation gaps, assisting with risk management, and preparing timely project reports. The role also encompasses supporting knowledge management activities, including training and dissemination of lessons learned.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible administrative or project experience is required with a high school diploma, or 4 years of experience with a bachelor's degree. Experience with computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel), web-based management systems, and advanced spreadsheet/database knowledge is essential.
Skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and database management. Strong communication, monitoring, and reporting skills. Experience in budget and procurement management. Knowledge of project management, M&E tools, and customer satisfaction principles. Digital literacy and adaptability to new technologies are also important.
