Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization focused on sustainable development and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS), the Healthy Planet Hub integrates environmental efforts across nature, climate, and energy. The Food Systems team, part of this Hub, works to transform food and agricultural systems globally to be more sustainable, resilient, and equitable, supporting over 140 countries.

Job Purpose

This internship within the UNDP's Food Systems Team, part of the Healthy Planet Hub, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of global food and agricultural systems. The role supports the development, coordination, and implementation of project management, administrative, and operational activities for ongoing initiatives. The intern will gain practical experience in project support, HR processes, procurement, and event management, contributing to UNDP's mission of fostering sustainable development and resilient food systems worldwide. This position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of projects aimed at creating equitable, healthy, and environmentally sustainable food systems, aligning with the SDGs and UNDP's strategic plan.

Responsibilities

The intern will provide comprehensive support to the Project Management and Operations Teams. Key responsibilities include assisting in the preparation and review of project documentation such as presentations, reports, and briefing notes, ensuring accuracy and proper formatting. The role involves conducting research, consolidating findings, and analyzing data to support various programs, while staying updated on food systems topics. Communication support includes facilitating information flow among project teams and partners. Operational support encompasses assisting with Human Resources tasks like TOR clearance and recruitment documentation, onboarding/offboarding interns, and monitoring team compliance with mandatory training. Procurement support involves consolidating documents for processes and assisting with GPN Roster vetting. Additionally, the intern will help coordinate virtual and in-person events and manage travel arrangements, ensuring timely follow-up on claims and plans.

Work Experience

While not strictly required, experience in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation is advantageous. Prior experience in program management support, operations, and coordination is also beneficial. Familiarity with the MS Office suite and Zoom is expected. Experience in organizing virtual or in-person events and workshops is considered an asset.
