Intern - Green Recovery And Transition (2 Positions)
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN's lead agency for international development, working in 170 countries to eradicate poverty and reduce inequality. The UNDP Seoul Policy Centre (USPC), established in 2011, facilitates innovative development cooperation and knowledge exchange on Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on areas including green recovery and transition. This internship offers exposure to UNDP's work and practical experience in international development.
Job Purpose
This internship aims to provide students and recent graduates with direct exposure to the work of the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre (USPC) and gain technical knowledge in international development and multilateral cooperation. The intern will primarily support activities related to Green Recovery and Transition, contributing to policy research, analysis, translation, project management, event organization, and communication efforts. This role is crucial for facilitating knowledge exchange on SDG-enabling development solutions and brokering partnerships between the Republic of Korea and other countries to address development challenges, particularly in the context of sustainable development and climate resilience.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide significant support to Green Recovery and Transition activities, constituting 90% of the role. This includes conducting policy research and producing publications on topics such as sustainable forestry, circular economy, climate finance, and digital transition. Responsibilities also involve documenting and packaging the Republic of Korea's development experiences for knowledge exchange. The intern will assist in organizing meetings, conferences, workshops, and webinars, including logistical arrangements and substantive preparation. Additionally, they will support the design and implementation of pilot projects and partnership activities, and liaise with various national and international partners. The remaining 10% of the role involves supporting other ad-hoc activities as needed, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the office.
Work Experience
Prior experience in environmental and climate projects or policy research is desirable. Familiarity with project management basics, green transition issues, development, and digitalization is beneficial. Experience in writing analytical pieces and Korean-English translation is an asset. Proficiency with Zoom and other digital tools is preferable.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills. Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines. Commitment to UNDP's vision and goals. Ability to work in a multicultural environment. Strong written and verbal communication in English. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Zoom and web-based meeting platforms is preferred. Fluency in Korean is a major asset.
