Statistics Intern

The Human Development Report Office (HDRO) at UNDP aims to advance human development by expanding opportunities, choice, and freedom. Job Purpose
This internship supports the professional development of scholars interested in human development and international issues. The intern will work with the Statistics team to prepare the Statistical Annex for the Human Development Report and related products. Key contributions include supporting the production of human development indices, conducting quantitative analysis for statistical estimates, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data. The role also involves assisting in the development of materials for report launches and other HDRO activities, including presentations, and providing logistical support for events and external queries. This role enhances analytical and statistical skills, broadens conceptual perspectives on international development, and contributes to HDRO's mission.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the Statistics team in preparing the Statistical Annex for the Human Development Report and related products under the supervision of senior staff. Key duties include assisting in the production of human development and related indices, conducting quantitative analysis to generate statistical estimates, and editing/fact-checking Statistical Annex tables for accuracy and consistency. The role also involves supporting the development of materials for report launches and other HDRO activities, such as statistical and analytical presentations. Additionally, the intern will contribute to other activities as needed, including providing logistical support for events and responding to external requests for statistical information.
Work Experience
Required experience includes conducting statistical or quantitative analysis on development-related topics and proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Stata) and standard office tools (Excel, Word). Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for effective collaboration. Desirable experience includes working with household survey data and familiarity with the human development framework.
