Organizational Context
The UNDP Brazil Office partners with government, private sector, and civil society to promote sustainable and inclusive development, focusing on governance, poverty reduction, climate change, and biodiversity. This role supports the Brazilian HCFCs Elimination Program (PBH) and the HFCs Program, crucial for meeting Montreal Protocol commitments and managing refrigerants transition.
Job Purpose
The Technical Analyst in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) will provide essential technical and operational support for the implementation, monitoring, and knowledge management of the PBH and HFCs programs. This role is critical for ensuring the efficient and effective integration of new alternative technologies within the RAC sector, aligning with specific operational challenges and realities in Brazil. The position contributes to the UNDP's mandate of supporting sustainable development and environmental protection initiatives, particularly in phasing out ozone-depleting substances and transitioning to lower global warming potential alternatives.
Responsibilities
Provide technical and operational assistance for the implementation of Montreal Protocol projects executed by UNDP Brazil. This includes supporting the management of the UIM project portfolio by systematizing and analyzing project information, contributing to reports, and liaising with the National Ozone Unit. The role involves supporting planning, execution, and accountability for project activities, including action plans and procurement. Key duties include executing technical activities for the PBH and HFCs programs, coordinating with institutional partners and stakeholders, organizing technical events, and systematizing implementation documents. The analyst will also review Terms of Reference, monitor procurement processes, and ensure contract quality. Furthermore, the role supports the generation of technical evidence for strategy formulation, market analysis of alternative technologies, and knowledge management through documenting lessons learned and producing strategic reports.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience for Master's degree holders, or 4 years for Bachelor's degree holders, is required in technical activities related to air conditioning (refrigeration and air conditioning) and/or energy efficiency. Professional experience in the RAC sector, focusing on energy efficiency and alternative refrigerants, is essential.
Skills
Professional experience in the RAC sector, emphasis on energy efficiency and alternative refrigerants. Engineering experience, particularly in sustainable development projects. Proficiency in IT and MS Office. Desired: Experience with Montreal Protocol projects (HCFCs/HFCs elimination, low GWP alternatives). Experience in developing cooperation projects.
