The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Benin seeks a Computer Systems Assistant to support staff with IT issues. This role is part of the Strategy, Management, and Operations department in Cotonou, contributing to the efficient functioning of the office's technological infrastructure and user support.
Job Purpose
The Computer Systems Assistant provides essential IT support to UNDP staff, ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems and networks. This includes installing and updating hardware and software, troubleshooting common technical issues, and assisting users with data backup, virus prevention, and network access. The role also involves maintaining IT inventory, supporting IT-related training, and contributing to knowledge sharing within the office. By ensuring reliable IT services, the assistant directly supports the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the UNDP office in Cotonou, enabling staff to perform their duties without technological disruptions.
Responsibilities
Install and update computer equipment and Microsoft Windows/Office software. Provide user support for file backups, data recovery, virus detection, and removal. Assist with the configuration and installation of new office tools and local intranet. Troubleshoot and monitor network issues, and manage user access to the network, Wi-Fi, and visitor portals. Offer IT support for key events. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of hardware and software, and manage IT supplies and spare parts. Facilitate knowledge sharing and assist in organizing IT training for staff. Execute other tasks as assigned by supervisors to ensure the effective operation of the office.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of IT experience with secondary education, or 2 years with a university degree, is required. Proven experience in user support and working under pressure is necessary. Experience with computer network monitoring is desired. Proficiency with Windows 10/11, Office 2016/365, and Outlook is mandatory.
