Communications Associate - Content Creation [open To Internal And External Applicants]
Organizational Context
UN City Copenhagen hosts ten UN organizations supporting global development and humanitarian operations. The Communications Team, part of UN City Common Services, enhances the visibility and understanding of these organizations' work, contributing to the 2030 Agenda and positioning Copenhagen as a UN operational hub.
Job Purpose
The Communications Associate - Content Creation is responsible for developing high-quality written, visual, and multimedia communication products that highlight the initiatives and activities of UN organizations based in Copenhagen. This role aims to strengthen storytelling, audience engagement, and overall visibility through compelling and targeted communication outputs. The position also supports the production and dissemination of communication materials for events and meetings, coordinates communication activities, assists in implementing the communication strategy, and fosters engagement across UN entities within UN City. Furthermore, the role supports the adoption of data-informed communication practices and emerging technologies, including AI, to optimize communication workflows and digital engagement.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting content production by developing and producing written and visual communication materials, feature stories, human interest content, and impact narratives. This involves coordinating communication activities for campaigns, events, visits, and institutional initiatives while ensuring consistency with UN communication standards. The role also supports campaign and outreach planning and implementation targeting Danish and Nordic audiences, contributing to stakeholder engagement and visibility products. Additionally, it involves advancing internal communication across UN City, serving as a liaison to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and driving the integration of digital tools and AI-enabled workflows to enhance digital communication formats and processes. Administrative support for the Communications Team and coordination with Common Services and UN agencies are also required.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in communications is required with secondary education, or 3 years with a Bachelor's degree. Experience with computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel) is necessary. Experience in communications, advocacy, and content creation is advantageous. Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is an asset, as is experience in handling administrative tasks and working within an international organization.
