The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Office in Burundi is seeking a Finance Associate to ensure the effective execution of financial operations and procedures. Job Purpose
The Finance Associate, under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, is responsible for the effective execution of financial operations and procedures within the UNDP Country Office. This role ensures the transparent use of resources and promotes client satisfaction while adhering to UNDP's financial rules and regulations. The Finance Associate will supervise finance support staff and collaborate closely with operations, program, and project teams, as well as UNDP Headquarters and other UN agencies, to resolve complex financial management issues and facilitate information exchange. The position contributes to the overall financial integrity and performance of the Country Office, supporting its strategic objectives and sustainable development agenda through informed decision-making and efficient financial management.
Responsibilities
The Finance Associate directs the execution of financial services within the Country Office, ensuring efficient and transparent resource utilization and financial integrity. This includes supervising finance support staff and collaborating with various teams and headquarters to resolve complex financial issues. Key responsibilities involve supporting operational strategies by ensuring compliance with UNDP policies, facilitating internal controls, and preparing financial analysis reports. The role also entails managing project budgets, overseeing cost recovery mechanisms, and providing accounting and administrative support. Additionally, the Finance Associate is responsible for treasury and cash management, including cash flow reviews, bank reconciliations, and cash flow forecasting. Finally, the position facilitates knowledge sharing on financial management best practices within the Country Office.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of experience in finance and accounting with increasing responsibility is required for candidates with a secondary school diploma. Candidates with a university degree require a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Experience at the national or international level is expected.
