Job Purpose
The UNDP in Honduras seeks a Project Coordinator for Biodiversity Financing to support the government in developing the National Biodiversity Financing Plan. This role will contribute to accelerating national efforts to address development challenges by providing policy, finance, and program advisory services. The coordinator will facilitate access to innovative solutions and foster partnerships to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. The position is crucial for aligning national strategies with global biodiversity frameworks and ensuring effective technical and financial support for nature-based investments, ultimately contributing to the future of people and the planet.
Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the efficient and effective design and/or technical implementation of assigned projects within the biodiversity and Sustainable Development and Resilience Unit. Key duties include developing and executing work plans for Biodiversity Expenditure Review (BER), Financial Needs Assessment (FNA), and Biodiversity Financing Plan (BFP) processes. This involves ensuring articulation between public institutions, private sector, civil society, and international cooperation, and facilitating technical meetings and workshops. The role also entails contributing to innovative financing strategies, identifying fiscal reforms, and supporting the finalization of the BFP. Additionally, the coordinator will generate policy documents, regulatory frameworks, and studies on biodiversity financing and environmental economics, and design and execute resource mobilization activities, identifying national and international funding opportunities.
Work Experience
Applicants with a Master's degree require no professional experience. Those with a Bachelor's degree must have at least two years of professional experience in formulating and/or implementing development projects related to nature finance, climate finance, or sustainable productive value chains. Experience in developing and implementing financial instruments for productive sectors or biodiversity conservation is also desired.
