Organizational Context

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in over 170 countries, providing assistance for policy development, leadership, institutional capacity building, and resilience. In Colombia, UNDP supports the government's transition to peace and its position as a middle-high income country through four work priorities: peacebuilding, social protection, environmental action, and facilitating the 2030 Agenda. The role sits within the Social Protection and Productive Inclusion Area.

Job Purpose

This role supports the design and implementation of various instruments and mechanisms for the UNDP Colombia office. The Data Science Technical Associate will act as a liaison between UNDP and ecosystem actors in the country, contributing to the specific context of projects within UNDP's programmatic areas and global initiatives. The purpose is to leverage data science expertise to enhance project effectiveness, facilitate collaboration, and drive inclusive development outcomes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for project formulation, evaluation, and implementation of diagnostic, informational, communication, and training materials. Assist in the design and transfer of methodologies and tools to strengthen capacities. Monitor project progress, formulate recommendations, and ensure efficient execution of results. Provide specialized guidance and advice, articulating actions with team members and beneficiaries. Manage administrative, financial, logistical, and technical processes, including grant agreements. Track contracts and agreements, reviewing execution reports. Oversee project team activities, identify deviations, and respond to technical needs. Support the preparation of Terms of Reference for consultants and procurement processes. Facilitate communication among project partners and stakeholders. Generate inputs for project reports, operational plans, budgets, Project Documents (Prodoc), and closing documents. Support capacity building through training, workshops, and knowledge sharing, disseminating data and lessons learned.

Work Experience

Experience in data analysis, project support, and technical assistance is necessary. Experience working with international organizations or in development projects is desirable.
