Job Purpose
The Local Security Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of UNDP personnel, premises, and assets in Mogadiscio, Somalia. This position supports the implementation of security policies and procedures to mitigate risks and maintain a secure operating environment. The incumbent will contribute to the overall security management framework, enabling UNDP to effectively deliver its programs and achieve its development objectives in a challenging context. This role is vital for safeguarding staff well-being and operational continuity.
Responsibilities
The Local Security Assistant is responsible for assisting in the implementation of security plans and procedures. This includes monitoring the security situation, conducting security assessments, and providing timely security advisories. The role involves supporting the management of security incidents, including investigations and reporting. Additionally, the assistant will assist in coordinating security training for staff, managing security-related equipment, and maintaining communication channels with relevant security stakeholders. Ensuring compliance with UN security policies and contributing to the overall safety of personnel and assets are key duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in security operations, military, or police service is required. Experience working in a challenging or post-conflict environment is highly desirable. Experience with UN security management systems or procedures is also beneficial.
