Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Suriname has been active since 1994, supporting sustainable growth and environmental protection. The Country Office focuses on democratic governance, social development, and environment/climate change. This role supports the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) Secretariat, which ensures the effective functioning of the CCM in line with Global Fund guidelines for health interventions.
Job Purpose
This Project Associate role is established to provide essential logistical and administrative support to the CCM Secretariat in Suriname. The position works closely with the CCM Secretariat Coordinator to ensure the smooth overall operation of the Secretariat and the CCM itself. The role contributes to the effective functioning of the CCM Suriname, aligning with Global Fund requirements and supporting national health responses through enhanced strategic information use and risk management. The Project Associate will assist in managing administrative procedures and facilitating project activities to achieve desired results.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive administrative and financial support, including managing project logistics, arranging meetings, drafting minutes, maintaining project files, and processing payments and reimbursements. Advise stakeholders on financial matters, allowances, and travel claims. Manage procurement of equipment, supplies, and services according to UNDP procedures. Coordinate logistical arrangements for project activities and events, and assist in obtaining co-financing letters. Handle correspondence and communications. Support knowledge building and sharing initiatives by participating in training, assisting with capacity-building activities, disseminating project data and lessons learned, and systematizing project knowledge products for partner distribution.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of progressive administrative or project experience is required with secondary education, or 3 years with a Bachelor's degree. Experience with computers, including financial tools and spreadsheets, is necessary. Proven experience supporting projects with donor organizations, governmental institutions, NGOs, or private sector firms is required, particularly in event and meeting preparation. Familiarity with administrative tasks like record-keeping and file maintenance is also needed.
