The Energy Efficiency Analyst role supports this project, contributing to improved human security and sustainable development.
Job Purpose
The Energy Efficiency Analyst will provide crucial technical expertise to the UNDP-DSMC Green Transition Portfolio in Dhangadhi, Nepal. This role is vital for enhancing urban resilience to extreme heat by focusing on smart buildings and green infrastructure development. The analyst will support the design, feasibility studies, and implementation of energy-efficient retrofitting for public buildings and community infrastructures, as well as the restoration of urban wetlands. The role involves supervising construction and retrofitting works to ensure quality and conformity with specifications, monitoring material utilization, and liaising with contractors. Additionally, the analyst will lead capacity development initiatives for municipal engineers and community groups on climate-resilient practices, facilitate stakeholder engagement, and support the development of operational and maintenance plans. Responsibilities also extend to monitoring project performance, reporting on progress, managing knowledge, and ensuring gender equality and social inclusion are mainstreamed throughout all project activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive experience (with a Master's degree) or four years (with a Bachelor's degree) is required in designing, developing, and implementing energy-efficient buildings, pond restoration, or urban heat management strategies, including renewable energy systems. Experience with civil, mechanical, and electrical works supervision during construction is also essential.
Skills
Proficiency in computer and office software packages. Experience in energy-efficient building design, nature-based solutions, climate adaptation, urban resilience, and sustainable construction practices. Demonstrated ability in supervising construction works, preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), Bills of Quantities (BoQ), and cost-benefit analyses. Strong stakeholder engagement and capacity-building skills. Familiarity with Nepal's building codes and UNDP safeguard requirements. Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
