Job Purpose
This Project Associate role is crucial for the successful implementation of the "Enabling of Belize’s Statistical System" project, a joint initiative between UNDP, the Government of Belize, KOICA, and various UN agencies. The purpose is to support the strengthening of Belize's national infrastructure and institutional capacity for data and statistical management. The role will ensure the timely and budget-conscious delivery of project outputs, contributing to the government's ability to make informed decisions and monitor its development agenda effectively through improved data collection, analysis, and sharing mechanisms. The position also supports resource mobilization for the Governance Programme.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the "Enabling of Belize’s Statistical System" project. Key duties include ensuring the delivery of project outputs within the established timeframe and budget. This involves assisting in the modernization of data collection and management systems, facilitating effective data sharing strategies, and fostering collaboration across different data systems. The role will also contribute to upgrading the Belize National Statistics System (BNSS) portal and supporting capacity-building initiatives for the Statistical Institute of Belize (SIB) and BNSS partners. Additionally, the associate will aid in resource mobilization efforts for the Governance Programme.
Work Experience
A minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible administrative or project experience is required if holding a high school diploma. Alternatively, 3 years of relevant experience is required if holding a bachelor's degree.
Skills
Proficiency in using computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with web-based management systems and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset. Demonstrated track record in technical and financial reporting and accounts management of international projects is also an asset.
