Security Coordination Associate [open To EU & EFTA Nationals]
Organizational Context
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in approximately 170 countries, focusing on poverty eradication, reducing inequalities, and building resilience to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. The UNDP Security Office provides guidance and support for security risk management activities not managed by UNDSS, coordinating strategic information processes, training, policy development, communications, crisis response, and compliance oversight.
Job Purpose
The Security Coordination Associate plays a crucial role in developing and establishing an effective communication process to inform staff about security risk management activities, policies, and procedures. Working under the Security Policy Specialist, this role supports the Security Office's strategic and operational goals in information management, policy development, and communications. The Associate will serve as a focal point for disseminating prescriptive content, developing communication materials, and maintaining the Security Community Website and Security Practice Network. Additionally, the role involves administering and maintaining knowledge management platforms, specifically the Security Office SharePoint site, and coordinating with various stakeholders within UNDP and the UN Security Management System to support policy and communication efforts.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting prescriptive content management by developing, reviewing, and disseminating security content, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UNDP and UN Security Management System policies. This involves editing policies and procedures, publishing standards, and developing targeted communication products. The role also entails coordinating security office activities by contributing to security reports, supporting crisis and emergency response communications, and assisting with security compliance and oversight processes, including analyzing incident reports. Furthermore, the Associate will monitor and maintain the Security Office's communication platforms, including the SharePoint site, developing new content, formatting multimedia, and conducting online outreach. Finally, the position involves facilitating network activities, preparing discussion summaries, responding to queries, and contributing to knowledge networks and professional communities.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in security risk management is required with secondary education, or four years with a university degree. Experience in developing prescriptive content, basic IT skills for content development and collaboration site management, desktop publishing software, and report writing, editing, and product design are required. Experience in crisis and emergency response communications is an asset.
