Job Purpose
This internship is designed to provide a holistic experience within UNDP Ethiopia, supporting the organization's integrated development portfolio. The intern will gain exposure to various programmes, operations, and partnerships, contributing to the implementation of the Country Programme Document (CPD) 2025–2030. The role supports key development areas including macroeconomic restructuring, private sector growth, climate change mitigation, and peacebuilding initiatives. By engaging in research, data analysis, and project support, the intern will contribute to UNDP's mission of fostering prosperity, effective governance, crisis resilience, and a healthy planet, while also developing practical skills in a UN development setting.
Responsibilities
The intern will support thematic research and contribute to the development of integrated programme briefs and concept notes. Responsibilities include mapping partners across government, UN, private sector, and civil society relevant to CPD priority areas. The role involves assisting in preparing materials for coordination meetings, contributing to results reporting, and supporting data collection, SDG indicator tracking, and visualization. Additionally, the intern will draft meeting minutes, event documentation, human interest stories, and impact briefs. Support will be provided for organizing learning events, workshops, and consultations, as well as for logistical preparations and digitalization of processes to enhance efficiency and transparency.
Work Experience
While no specific prior work experience is mandated, desirable technical skills include proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, R, or SPSS. Familiarity with digital innovation, AI, or sustainable finance concepts is also beneficial. Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills are advantageous for this role.
